WOMAAF : La 3e édition se tiendra du 8 au 10 novembre 2018 à Ouagadougou

Le comité d’organisation du World Music and African Art Festival (WOMAAF), en français Festival international des musiques du monde et des arts d’Afrique, a tenu une conférence de presse, ce mardi 31 juillet 2018 au CENASA pour présenter aux hommes de médias cet événement culturel majeur dont la 3e édition se tiendra du 8 au 10 novembre 2018 à Ouagadougou.

« Ensemble, célébrons les relations culturelles entre le Burkina Faso et le Maroc ». C’est sous ce thème que se tiendra du 8 au 10 novembre 2018 à Ouagadougou, le Festival international des musiques du monde et des arts d’Afrique, WOMAAF dans son acronyme anglais. L’annonce  a été faite à la presse, ce mardi 31 juillet 2018 au cours d’une conférence de presse organisée par le comité d’organisation. Selon, les organisateurs, l’objectif de cette conférence de presse était de présenter aux hommes de médias cet événement culturel panafricain qui est à sa troisième édition et dont le Burkina Faso est le pays hôte.

D’après la promotrice du festival, madame Elise Dintchen/Coucke, par ailleurs présidente du comité d’organisation, les objectifs du WOMAAF sont entre autres : Fournir un moyen permettant de mettre en valeur le riche patrimoine cultuel des pays d’Afrique et contribuer à renforcer leur rayonnement international, promouvoir le métissage musical et artistique entre les artistes des pays de l’Afrique sub-saharienne et du Maroc et favoriser ainsi l’émergence de nouvelles créations et de nouveau talents.

Un programme alléchant

Plusieurs activités sont au menu de cette troisième édition à savoir des concerts live, des conférences thématiques, des expositions d’art plastique contemporain et traditionnel, des défilés de mode, des lectures de contes, de la gastronomie et une soirée en l’honneur des autorités traditionnelles burkinabè, camerounaises et marocaines.

Au total 19 concerts gratuits seront ouverts au public sur la Place de la nation par de grosses pointures de la musique africaine telles qu’Amity Méria, Dicko Fils, Abdoulaye Diabaté, Zougnazagamda du Burkina Faso, Kawtar Sadik, Samia Ahmed, Maalem Abdelmajid Domnati du Maroc et Lornoar, Sameli Mugoum, André-Marie Tala du Cameroun. Quant aux conférences thématiques, elles seront animées au CENASA par d’éminentes personnalités du monde culturel telles que Dr Patice Kouraogo, conseiller Spécial du Président du Faso pour les affaires culturelle et touristiques, Idrissa Zorom, directeur de la coopération culturelle au Burkina Faso, Ismaël Menkari et Wahabou Bara respectivement directeur général du Bureau marocain du droit d’auteur et du Bureau burkinabè du droit d’auteur, Sylvain Djaché Nzefa du Cameroun et Abdoulaye Koundoul du Sénégal. S’agissant des défilés de modes, on note la participation de Bazem’ Se, de Sidorova Simo Fotso, de Malika Benslimane et de Taoko Djénéba.

Un Festival soutenu par de hautes personnalités

Initié en 2016 par madame Elise Dintchen-Coucke, franco-candienne originaire du Cameroun, vivant à Tanger au Maroc, le festival WOMAAF est soutenu par de hautes personnalités au regard de ses objectifs. La première édition s’est tenue à Tanger au Maroc en 2016 avec comme pays d’honneur le Burkina Faso et la deuxième édition en 2017 toujours au Tanger sous le patronage de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohamed VI avec le Sénégal comme pays d’honneur. En cette troisième édition, c’est le Burkina Faso qui été choisi pour accueillir l’édition de 2018 sous le haut patronage du Président du Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, sous la Présidence du Ministre de la culture, des Arts et du Tourisme, Abdoul Karim Sango et du parrainage de Farhat Bouazza, ambassadeur du Maroc au Burkina Faso.
